Installing Nimi
- Download the installer from the Download page (during the beta, the link comes in the invite email).
- Open
Iris_..._x64-setup.exe. If Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”, click More info and then Run anyway: during the beta the installer is not code-signed yet. - In the first window, choose the installer language. On the Options page, choose whether you want a desktop shortcut and whether Nimi starts with Windows (it stays in the tray, near the clock).
- When it finishes, Nimi opens and asks for your email to activate (see Activating Nimi).
Where your data lives
Conversations, memories and settings are in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Iris, outside the program folder. Updating or reinstalling Nimi deletes nothing.
Closing and quitting
Closing the window keeps Nimi in the tray, with calendar, reminders and routines working. To really quit, use Quit in the tray icon menu.
Checking the installer
The Download page shows the “File check (SHA-256)”. To check it, in PowerShell:
Get-FileHash "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\Iris_*_x64-setup.exe"
The number shown must be the same as the page’s. If it differs, don’t install it and write to support.
